3 Tips for Staying Within Your Remodeling Budget

Nobody wants to go over budget on a remodeling project. And yet, we’ve all heard horror stories about projects that ended up costing way more than the homeowner planned.

Here are three simple tips that can keep your budget in line:

1. Set a Realistic Budget

Before you do anything else, work with an experienced remodeler (us!) to set an initial budget range that matches the project you’re planning and what you’re comfortable investing. But don’t deceive yourself by budgeting a low amount for a project that will be much more. That’s a recipe for frustration!

2. Understand the Importance of the Design & Planning Stages

You might be surprised by how much time and planning goes into your remodeling project before we ever swing a hammer! If you’re thinking about remodeling your home, the Design & Planning stage is where you need to start to ensure a smooth and successful project that is delivered on time and on budget. As an experienced remodeler, we will often have ideas about how to accomplish your objectives more efficiently and effectively. Tell us what you want to achieve and it’s best if we work together as a team to make it happen.

3. Be Open to Alternatives (without compromising)

You may have your heart set on high-end countertops. But your budget may say “no” and we need to talk about alternatives that deliver the performance you want that is within your budget. Or, you may think the only way to get the extra space you want in your kitchen is to push out the exterior wall. We may be able to make your kitchen more efficient (and make it feel larger) for less of an investment.

These are simple tips, but they can go a long way in keeping your project on budget.

We love what we do and love helping homeowners, like you, through the remodeling process!
